When you receive a transaction from Monobank, it will be indicated by a mark (via mono).
Categories for these transactions will be determined automatically, based on the so-called MCC code, which is a code for a specific type of activity. So, don’t be surprised if the categories aren’t what you’re used to. But…
Simply reply to the bot's message and write the category you want.
This way, we change the category only for this specific transaction.
Sometimes we buy groceries at the same store or go to the same café for coffee. In such cases, we wouldn't want to manually change the category every time. Therefore, we can change the settings for an entire MCC code.
For example, if I want transactions from the café to always be categorized as 'restaurants', I need to reply to the message with the following text:
restaurants
From now on, all transactions with MCC 5814 will be categorized as 'restaurants'.
<aside> 💡
Not all cafés may use the same MCC, so it’s possible that for another café, you’ll need to set the desired category for a different MCC code again. However, this is done only once for each category, so it significantly simplifies budget management 🙂

<aside> 💡 You can change an existing rule for an MCC in the same way you created it. So, if you now want to change from 'restaurants' to 'restaurant' for MCC 5814, simply update the settings with: >restaurant

Simply reply to the bot's message and write the minus sign (-).
